GOOD TREES was written for Ron Buckles and the Cardinal Choir of Chippewa Falls High School.  Given that the town was built on the muscle of loggers, it seemed appropriate to write a piece that reflected that history.  Douglas Malloch's poem captures both the spirit of the community and the character that is borne out of a strong work ethic.
