One-of-a-Kind Chamber Music Series - 10 Years of Exquisite Chamber Music!
Viterbo University Nola Starling Recital Hall | La Crosse, Wisconsin
One-of-a-Kind Chamber Music Series enjoyed an impressive 10-year run at Viterbo University, fueled by the inspiration and energy of Dr. Mary Ellen Haupert (founder, artistic director, and performer). To celebrate the tenth year, Mary Ellen invited both musicians and guest speakers for something "out of our minds," so to speak. There were breath-taking performances by Artaria String Quartet, UW-L faculty flutist Jonathan Borja, Syrian composer Wassim Ibrahim, soprano Ann Schoenecker, cellist Kirsten Whitson, and pianist Pamela Kelly. Each theme was developed by the inspirational minds of speakers Vince Hatt, Wassim Ibrahim, Matthew Bersagel Braley, and composer William Neil. But there was more - in keeping with the "out of our minds" idea, students participated in course projects that were shared with audience members during intermission. The four concerts explored Life’s Journey (Three for the Road), Global Peace (Open Borders), Protest Music (Music for Protest), and Creation (Out of This World, Down to Earth).
One-of-a-Kind Chamber Music Series concerts focused on music by one composer, style, or genre. Performers over the tenure of the series include pianist Timothy Schorr, violinist Nancy Oliveros, Artaria String Quartet, cellists Laura Sewell and Kisten Whitson, violinist Stephanie Arado, violist Busya Lugovier, and more pianists - Pamela Preston Kelly, Mark Tollefsen, Jae Won Kim, Judy Stafslien, Owen Lovell, Nancy Allen, and Dave Marck. Singers on the series included Daniel Johnson-Wilmot, Jerry Benser, Jean Saladino, Diane Foust, Ann Schoenecker, and Diana Cataldi. I'm indebted to their generosity and dedication to the art of chamber music! All the good things learned from One-of-a-Kind Chamber Music Series will be included in new chamber music series,
